Hello! I’m Thom Fowler.
South Vernon is one of three churches that I pastor. I’m proud to say that I am
a bi-vocational pastor. In the last 21 years of pastoral ministry I have worked
a full-time job so as not to financially burden the churches I serve.
a bi-vocational pastor. In the last 21 years of pastoral ministry I have worked
a full-time job so as not to financially burden the churches I serve.
A mentor of mine once said, “Small churches deserve good pastors, too!”
At the end of 2018, after 18 years in retail, I became a school bus driver…
but, that is what I do, not who I am. I am a follower of Christ and to me
that’s not just about going to church, opening my Bible and saying
a prayer occasionally. For me following Christ is interacting daily with
Someone who knows me and, despite my flaws, loves and accepts me.
One of my favorite Bible verses is from Ephesians 1:4,
Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy
and without fault in his eyes.” (NLT)
and without fault in his eyes.” (NLT)
One of my motivations for preaching (and blogging! – see above) is that I know others struggle with life as I do and a partner on the journey is always welcome!
